are not about chasing the next piece of coloured cloth.
Grading is about 2 things.
- Demonstrating that you are ready to receive a higher level of tuition.
- Getting dedicated and focused feedback.
We are halfway through the week and so far we have seen a surprisingly small number of people putting themselves forward for testing. I know we bang this drum over and over but it is so important for you training that you work towards goals. Even if you say;
“I’m not here to get new belts, I’m here to learn”
You still need to put yourself forward for assessment so that the instructors can give you feedback on where you are and what you need to do to improve.
Do not think about the outcomes of a grading being either Failure or Success. If you walk away with an increased understanding of how you are performing, then it was a success.
It’s not about the belt, it’s about the knowledge that that piece of cloth represents.
